The dabte – music will speak

Philosophical discussion concerning the art of music interpretation takes place at the University of Toruń on April 16. The speakers will be accompanied by Rafał Blechacz, pianist.

The debate has been planned as one of the key events at the Festival of Science and Art. It is organized by the Nicolaus Copernicus University, the authorities of Toruń and the Torun Scientific Society. Apart from Rafał Blechacz, professor Andrzej Szostek from the Catholic University of Lublin, professor Władysław Stróżewski from the Jagiellonian University and professor and Jacek Jadacki with the assistant professor Anna Brożek from the University of Warsaw participate in the debate. The latter ones are not only academic philosophers, but also pianists. In the previous year they jointly published a book titled: "Fryderyk Chopin. Social Environment – Personality – Viewpoint – Artistic Goals". (pl. "Fryderyk Chopin. Środowisko społeczne – osobowość – światopogląd – założenia twórcze").

The debate is prepared by organizers encouraged with the success of the previous edition of the festival. Last year the concert by Rafał Blechacz and the discussion concerning music took part as two separate events. Due to the expected large number of visitors, this year the meeting is organized in the Concert Hall of the Nicolaus Copernicus University instead of Collegium Maximum.
