Evenings with Fryderyk is a book addressed to children aged 7 – 11. The content is based on the most recent sources describing research into the life and work of Fryderyk Chopin. In an easy to follow way, in the form of short stories about a contemporary girl named Ania, the author, Alicja Twardowska presents children with a lot of information about the most outstanding Polish composer and brings his music closer to this audience. This publication has an important educational value. It is accompanied by a CD with Fryderyk Chopin music performed by Edward Wolanin, talented interpreter of his music. In the review of Evenings with Fryderyk we can read: “There is no bombastic didactics, no excessive solemnity, because even the most difficult parts are always perfectly softened with presenting the content about Chopin with description of the adventures of the secondary character Ania.(…) Evenings… constitute an unusual offer to spend valuable moments with your own child when we do not ask routine questions: have you done your homework, or have you washed your face, but we move together to another, interesting world. This is a very valuable book, not only in terms of music, but also didactics” (Zofia Malewicz-Gordon, Muzyka 21, No.10/2009). The book was awarded the 3rd Prize in the Competition for Educational Musical Publication organized by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute.
